#1 on my birth day: "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" -- Elton John. #1 on my 21st birthday: "One Sweet Day" -- Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men.
Because Erika is too busy to vox this (yes, "vox" has made the leap to verb):
Please, please, please don't send in the clowns:
Sending in the clowns can significantly increase the chances that fertility treatment will be a success, Israeli researchers have found.
The team looked at women undergoing embryo transfers, where an IVF embryo is put into the womb.
Just over a third of women entertained by a clown conceived, compared to 19% of a group who were not, a European fertility conference heard.
From Salon's Broadsheet:
Shevach Friedler of the Assaf Harofeh center described proper clown technique to the Independent: "A specially devised medical clowning session of 10 to 15 minutes was composed by our clown team. Women after embryo transfer lie for an hour in bed and the clown has a session with them," he explained.
"The clown approaches the bed where the woman is lying and he makes contact first by eye, then with conversation. The point is to get the women to smile and laugh. They use magic tricks and tell some jokes."
My parents and sister often call me " 'Laine" and when I was younger, " 'Lainie." My sister's nickname is "Small Fry" which makes me "Supersize." And then a friend from college calls me "Bob" which may or may not have something to do with my morning hair and a certain Bob Marley poster.
Bjork DJ'd at The Stud. In town for Barney's opening at the SF MOMA, I assume.
This photo was taken by my Dad and made it onto Flickr's Most Interesting Photos on June 19th. How cool is that? It's also one of my favorite photos in his wild ponies set.
